Highly recommend! Our group of 12 booked a five-hour afternoon charter on July 1 and had a great experience. We caught fish while trolling on the way out and landed even more once we reached the fishing spots, including red snapper, grouper, Spanish mackerel, and several out-of-season species that were safely released. First Mate Mark was excellent with everyone, quickly teaching us how to use the rods and bait the hooks. Most of us had never been deep-sea fishing before, but Bernie and Mark made the trip easy, fun, and memorable.

We had a great time! The captain and crew were friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. They honestly warned us that the fishing conditions might not be ideal, but they still worked hard to put us on plenty of fish and made sure everyone had an enjoyable trip. Mark kept us supplied with bait and patiently showed the first-time anglers how to bait their hooks and use the fishing rods. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and an easy 10 out of 10!

We had an absolute blast! We caught plenty of fish and laughed until we cried. Several people in our group were fishing for the first time, and the crew patiently helped them with their lines and bait whenever needed. We caught red snapper, black snapper, grouper, and plenty of bonito. We even spotted dolphins along the way. It was a fantastic trip with a great crew!

This was our annual girls’ trip, and we chose Destin for some time at the beach. After hearing how many fish my son and his friends caught with the Windwalker II crew, we decided to book a trip of our own. We had a wonderful time. Captain Berno found some great fishing spots, and Mark, the deckhand, was very patient and helpful. We may not have been experts at reeling them in, but we got plenty of bites and had a lot of fun. We ended the trip with nine fish, which was not bad for two older ladies! I highly recommend booking a fishing trip with the Windwalker II crew.

Do not let the previous reviews about a grumpy captain discourage you. The captain speaks with guests at the beginning of the trip to explain everything and again at the end to thank everyone. During the charter, he stays on the bridge, safely operating the boat and searching for the best fishing spots. The first mate was incredible, patient, and willing to repeat instructions as often as needed. The covered area at the back of the boat provided welcome shade, and the handrails were helpful when the water became rough. We caught plenty of fish, made wonderful memories, and would gladly book with this crew again.

Bernie and Mark handled our younger group with care; really appreciated the charter. Crew helped us make it through a big storm and kept the kids involved the whole time. Fish on!!!

Was the first time our teens had been offshore fishing. Captain Bernie is clearly seasoned and knows where to put people to catch fish. First mate, Mark, was good with the kids and patient as this was all new to them. Took time to educate and coach. Worked hard to ensure they had a good first experience. Would recommend this crew.

Great for first timers fishing in Destin. Capt Bernie and Deckhand Mark was more than patient and helpful during our time with them. Our family of 9 definitely gave them a run for their money because none of us knew what the heck we were doing 😂. We started off fishing for bait fish and then off to fish for red snapper. Got to see dolphins, sea turtles, and a shark that took our snapper lol. Let’s just say that we would book them again in heart beat.

We had an amazing time aboard the Windwalker II in Destin, Florida! Captain Bernie knew exactly where to go, and with Mate Mark’s help, all ten of us stayed busy reeling in fish throughout the trip. Wrapped up the day with a delicious fish fry—can’t wait to do it again! Ask ChatGPT

Captain Bernie did a fantastic job navigating in and out of the harbor and putting us right on the fish. Mark was incredibly helpful and patient, especially with our group of eight ranging from age 12 to 75—including my parents, who have some physical limitations. He kept everyone’s lines in the water and made sure we stayed fishing the whole time. If it’s your first time, don’t mistake his fast pace for anything but focus—there’s a reason he moves quickly. Predators are waiting to steal your catch, and those rigs aren’t cheap, so following instructions makes all the difference. Big thanks to Bernie and Mark—we know we weren’t the easiest group, but you made it an unforgettable day.
